Job Title: Business Architect

City & Province Location of the Job: Toronto, Ontario

Description of Deliverables:
  • ● The purpose of this request is to acquire one Business Architect to provide expertise and leadership in the analysis and development of business architecture artifacts to support our client's initiative for implementation of a comprehensive Electronic Customer Relationship Management (eCRM). This effort will include consultations with appropriate government contacts on specific elements, conducting focus group workshops to develop business architecture artifacts as part of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Framework.
  • ● The eCRM initiative is a multi Ministry initiative.
  • ● Initiative Objective: Through Business Transformation and technology enablement, develop and operationalize integrated client relationship management across several Ministries to facilitate an authoritative "Single Holistic 360 View" of their client/stakeholders across Ministerial boundaries. This will further enable strategic relationship management and increased opportunities for collaboration across Ministries to deliver seamless, consistent and effective services to the clients.
  • ● Approach: The CRM framework (vision and overall strategy) definition effort will be led (facilitated) by a Business Transformation Lead. Through this effort, the overall shared CRM framework and the integrated accountability and relationship models will be formulated. It is expected that the Business Architect synthesize/leverage this information to create OPS compliant business architecture conceptual and logical models.

Scope of Services:
  • ● Translate business requirements to relevant artefacts as per OPS GO-ITS standards and Rows 1, 2 & 3 of the Zachman Framework.

  • ● These artefacts will describe the business design of the intended solution and will include (but not limited to), the following:
  • ● Business Processes, Workflows
  • ● Use Case Model, Use Cases
  • ● Activity diagrams, Sequence Diagrams
  • ● Requirements Glossary
  • ● Logical Data Model
  • ● Storyboards (usually when involving screen shots)
  • ● Reference model
These deliverables will be provided to a selected Product Configuration Team to configure the target eCRM Dynamics solution.

Mandatory General Skills:
  • ● Knowledge and experience with a wide range of methods, techniques and tools for business architecture such as, but not limited to: business functional modeling, service lifecycle modeling, business event modeling, business process mapping, value chain analysis, and other related disciplines;
  • ● Successfully completed business architectures in government settings or similar complex, multi project/multi-client organizations;
  • ● Good understanding of diverse business environments, especially government environments, and a good understanding of the business drivers in these environments;
  • ● Proven ability to identify and analyze business requirements;
  • ● Knowledge and experience with of information technology providing the ability to integrate and identify IT-enabled opportunities to solve business pressures/needs;
  • ● Business and IM/IT strategic and operational planning and performance management practices, especially as they apply to the public sector environment;
  • ● Communication, facilitation, negotiation, consensus building, and problem-solving skills
  • ● Demonstrated commitment and proven ability to do effective stakeholder management;
  • ● A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines

Desirable Skills:
  • ● Proven experience in documenting business architecture deliverables as specified by OPS Enterprise Architecture Governance
  • ● Past experience in preparing materials for presentation to OPS cluster and/or corporate architecture core teams or review boards
  • ● Proven ability to identify the business implications of current and future decisions and actions and to make recommendations
  • ● Strong knowledge of Zachman Framework including business / information /application /technology /security architecture domains as well as understanding of the contents of rows 1,2,and 3
  • ● Experience with Government of Ontario Information Technology Standards (GO-ITS), including those for OPS Common Data Elements
  • ● Experience in the use of data and process modeling methodologies, techniques and tools
  • ● Extensive experience in facilitating workshops for the development of architecture artifacts
  • ● Experience in the development and implementation of data architectures at the specified experience level
